CHAPTER FIVE

THE next morning, Luis rose early. With the conversation of last night still echoing in his mind, he decided to spend the morning with his sons. He found them eating on the terrace with the other children. Stacey sat with Theresa at the adult table. It looked as if they’d become friends. The happiness about the new baby had shone from both his cousins since they’d arrived, and he expected Alli would love having a younger brother or sister.

“Good morning,” he greeted the women. “Where is everyone?”

“Good morning, Luis,” Theresa replied. “Jose is on some long-distance phone call, Abuela is having her breakfast in her room after that late night. Sophia’s with her, I think. Don’t know where Sebastian and Anna are.”

“What’s on the agenda for today?” he asked as he filled his plate from the lavish buffet near the house.

“Swimming this morning. We thought we’d go to town this afternoon. Depending on when Miguel and his family arrive and Isabella, we might stay home. That’s the best part of vacation—no schedules,” Theresa said.

Luis nodded, sitting down opposite Stacey. He looked at her. She looked fresh and appealing. Glancing over at the children’s table, he tried to ignore the pull of attraction he felt when around her. The boys looked as if they were having the time of their lives. He was glad.

“Are you swimming with us today?” Stacey asked.

“I plan to spend the entire day with them,” Luis said.

“They’ll love that!” Stacey answered, a smile lighting up her face.
